1965 Condor basses

Though Paul McCartney had proved it possible to play the bass and rise to superstardom, it was not always easy to find someone 1. volunteerig to perform the boring part of the job, 2. able to do it satisfactorily, 3. owning a bass guitar. That wasn't a toy one would buy as a wallhanger or just to fiddle with at home, it was an investment for actual intensive playing. Especially a typical utility instrument like the Condor bass. It is therefore almost impossible today to find an Eko 1800 bass in pristine condition, all have suffered much abuse, or have been modified, butchered, when not dumped as soon as the original owner could afford to acquire a serious Precision- or Jazz-Bass. The greenish sunburst Condor isn't too bad, except for the changed pot and selector buttons.

The other one is worn and stripped to the bare bone. Think that it maybe had a splendid sparkle finish in its days of glory...

Benché Paul MacCartney avesse provato che un bassista poteva diventare una superstar, era spesso una sfida trovare qualcuno 1. disposto a incaricarsi della zona noiosa del suono, 2. capace di farlo correttamente, 3. che possedesse un basso. Non era il genere di roba che si compra come decorazione murale o per giocare a casa, era un investimento per suonare seriamente. Specialmente con uno strumento così pratico come il basso Condor. Perciò è quasi impossibile trovare un Eko 1800 in condizioni perfette, tutti sono stati abusati ad oltranza, o modificati, macellati, o sono finiti nella spazzatura quando l'utente ha infine potuto regalarsi un vero Precision o un Jazz-Bass. Il basso sunburst verdastro non si presenta troppo male, a parte le manopole dei potenziometri e il selettore sostituiti.

L'altro è stato usato e svestito fino alle ossa. Nei suoi giorni di gloria doveva avere una splendida finitura perlinata ...
