La chitarra ai profani sembrerebbe decorata in plastica o serigrafata. Non ci si aspetta certo in una chitarra economica un lavoro più complesso. La decorazione invece è realizzata con la tecnica dell'intarsio napoletano o sorrentino. una serie di fogli sottili di legno sovrapposti con la pressa e traforati con il seghetto seguendo la guida del disegno. sottraendo ad arte i pezzi di legno di colore diverso si ottiene un piacevole effetto con cui si procede all'impiallacciatura della chitarra. Un misto di economica serialità e autentica artigianalità. Facile immaginare una tecnica simile ottenuta con una fustella per tirature più ampie.

To a layman, this guitar would seem to be decorated in plastic or silk screens. We certainly wouldn’t have expected such complex workmanship in such a cheap guitar.

The decoration is, instead, done in a Neapolitan or Sorrento style inlay. They would take a series of thin sheets of wood pressed together and worked with a fretsaw, following the guidelines of the drawings. By skillfully cutting and removing the various layers of wood, a lovely, fretwork effect is obtained and then veneered onto the guitar. This was a brilliant mix of serial production and craftsmanship. It would be easy to imagine a similar technique being carried out with a punch for increased production.
