This Höfner 164 (version 3) was actually
made in 1966, with a body shape quite different from the previous
164-1 and -2 versions.
But pickups were still those manufactured from 1961 to 1964, with
the diamond logo (hence the more pronounced vintage sound perhaps).
Note that some of those PUps are humbuckers, others are single-coils
but aside from the stingier sound of the latter you can't make sure
unless you remove the cover.
Not only are those 164-3 very rare, but yours is exceptional: no
vibrato (and no routing to suggest there ever was one), and very
strange controls. There are normally 2 tone + 2 volume knobs, yours
has only three pots! Never seen that so far. What are the pots for?
Two individual tone, one common volume?
