Here's another contribution for the Site.
I received the Manhattan just before X-mas,the others I already
had. But the simularity between them is very big !
The blue one is a '61 Manhattan , build by Egmond ( the Netherlands).
As you can see : it's only a plank (chunk of wood,1.5 cm thick),
painted in Hammerite (and painted bindings) and a set neck (you
can see the bulge on the back off the guitar for strenght) and with
a prefab electric part screwed-on. Even no jack on it: just a fixed
cable !
This "guitar" was advertised in newspapers and musik
magazines and could be bought in monthly payments. Therefore a realy
student guitar. The waterproof bag that goes with it was only delivered
after the last payment !
The amp aside the guitar is a Royal , also build by Egmond (no
further info). I had it already before but the corresponding colour
& same manufacturer makes it a nice pair (and must be from the
same age)
As I see it : I've other guitars like this one (Famos
by Venlonia, on the Site already ; and this Klira with virtual
the same construction (plank-Hammerite, prefab electrics and painted
bindings) so a lot off European manufacturers had student/entry-level
cheap guitars.
