Wandré and the three-piece aluminum neck
An even more advanced solution developed over the years was the three-part neck-thru-body system, which was a natural evolution of the bolt-on neck. Wandré was destined to arrive at this conclusion that, even if its joint had been perfected, had its Achilles’ heel in the wood used to make the body of the guitar itself. The system looks like it was designed by an engineer and contributed to the widespread, if false, belief that Wandré was an expert in motorcycle engineering.

There were three aluminum parts: the headstock, joined to the neck with three nuts and bolts, the neck attached to an aluminum insert that runs through the center of the body to the tremolo system. A single aluminum bar, separate from the body, ran from the headstock to the tremolo. The bridge transmitted vibrations to the wood, but was anchored to the aluminum. The diagram should make things clearer. The system also allowed for the making of seemingly impossible carved-bodies that gave the impression that all the mechanics were suspended.

Wandré dovette arrivare alla conclusione che seppur perfezionato il sistema di giunzione, il punto debole delle chitarre rimaneva la qualità dei legni usati per la cassa che dovevano contribuire al sustain. Il sistema escogitato è degno di un ingegnere e ha contribuito a diffondere la falsa notizia di un Wandré esperto di meccanica motociclistica.

Tre parti di alluminio: paletta, fissata al manico con tre dadi/bulloni, manico fissato con due viti a un inserto di alluminio che percorre il corpo e si congiunge al sistema vibrato. un'unica barra di alluminio indipendente dal corpo che va dalla paletta al vibrato. il ponte trasmetteva le vibrazioni al legno ma l'ancoraggio veniva effettuato sull'alluminio. la figura spiega meglio il tutto. Il sistema permetteva anche dei carved-body impossibili che davano un senso di sospensione a tutta la meccanica...
