This no-name Welsonoid is certainly a bit younger than the previous one. It's basically the same design, with some differences. The vibrato is of a type often seen on Gemellis, Bartolinis and Morbidonis from 1964. The slimmer headstock is strangely similar to the last generation of Melody sparkle guitars (those fitted with Eko pickups). Instead of thumbwheels there are conventional potentiometers. But I cannot swear that the knobs are original. I also have my doubts about the black finish (looks like an amateurish paint job) and the illogical positioning of the jack socket.

The pickguard's upper layer is a specific op-art patterned foil that shows up at the same time in 1964 (and only in 1964) on Welson bodies as well as on some Eko Condor pickguards. Here it is laminated on a nearly fluo-green substrate.

The most intriguing feature doesn't jump out right away at you. Look at the fretboard inlays ; how many are they?... Yep, one more than usual. Maybe someone realized that the revised diamond shape of the inlays made them narrower enough to find accomodation up to the 19th fret.

Questo Welsonoide senza nome è sicuramente un po' più recente del precedente. È più o meno lo stesso disegno, con qualche differenza. Il vibrato è d'un tipo frequente sulle Gemelli, Bartolini e Morbidoni dal 1964. La paletta, più snella, è stranamente simile a quella dell'ultima generazione delle Melody a brillantini (quelle dotate di pickup Eko). Invece dei thumbwheels ci sono potenziometri classici. Ma non potrei giurare che le manopole sono originali. Ho anche i miei dubbi sulla rifinitura nera (sembra una verniciatura fatta in casa) e sulla collocazione illogica dell'uscita jack.

Lo strato superiore del battipenna è un foglio con decoro op-art particolare che appare simultaneamente nel 1964 (e solo nel 1964) sui corpi di modelli Welson e anche sui battipenne di certe Eko Condor. Qui è laminato su un sottostratto quasi verde fluo.

Il particolare più intrigante non salta subito agli occhi. Guardate la tastiera; quanti intarsi ci sono?... Sì, uno più del solito. Forse qualcuno si accorse che la sagoma rivista dei rombi li rendeva sufficientemente stretti per poter esser sistemati fino al 19mo tasto.
