As I promised you, I hereby send you
the pictures of my Goya Rangemaster 107. When I bought the
guitar it looked like it has been in an abandoned house for
20 years. Very, Very dusty. I took it apart to the smallest
bits, carefully cleaning, removing the rust and dust and then
polishing every part. I had to move the bridge about 5 millimeter
further from the neck, because intonation was impossible.
Probably a production-fault. With most arch-top guitars you
just move it, but with this one I had to drill new holes,
because the underplate of the bridge is actually screwed to
the body and the adjustment-screws go right through it! But,
it's perfect now!
Sound and playability of this guitar
are really AMAZING! At first I couldn't believe the action
of a guitar could be so incredibly low without any string-rattle!
But it could. Now I even made the action a bit higher, because
it felt so unreal! The pick-ups give a beautiful, clean, crystal-clear
and also very warm sound. I was surprised to hear that even
distorted this guitar sounds great. You just wouldn't expect
it.
The possibillities with all those push-buttons
are great. Just look at the picture and you will understand
why!
Finally I have to say that the guitar stays in tune very well,
even with extreme use of the tremelo. Now try that with a
stratocaster!
These Goya's must really have been
among the best semi-acoustic guitars ever made in Europe.
But not only in Europe. I mean it when I say that I wouldn't
trade it for any Gibson, Fender or even Gretsch! These split
pick-ups are GREAT!
