Diamond The Diamond Ranger series is one of the many six-stringed by-products generated by the Italian accordion diaspora in the U.S. Back in the 20’s and 30’s there was in Chicago an accordion making sector principally led by a famous craftsman of Italian origin, Finau Piatanesi (obviously related to the Piatanesis of Castelfidardo). His company was bought out by the brothers Alfredo and Aldo Morbidoni. However, as Italian made key components were embargoed because of WWII, operation had to be reduced and closed down by the end of the war. With the post-war market recovery, Aldo Morbidoni started distribution under his Diamond brand of complete accordions sourced from Italy, at first from Moreschi of Castelfidardo then from Alberto Morbidoni, and was quite successful in that. Around 1964 this business was temporarily complemented with the Ranger series of Diamond guitars, also made in Italy.
Negli anni 20 e 30 c’era a Chicago un'industria locale di organetti prodotti pricipalmente da un rinomato artigiano di origine italiana, Finau Piatanesi (sicuramente collegato alla dinastia Piatanesi di Castelfidardo). La sua attività venne ripresa dai fratelli Alfredo e Aldo Morbidoni. Ma essendo ostacolata dagli eventi bellici l’importazione dall’Italia di componenti chiave, la produzione si fermò verso la fine della guerra mondiale. Col ritorno della pace e la ripresa del mercato, Aldo Morbidoni si lanciò nell’importazione di fisarmoniche interamente italiane, distribuite con gran successo sotto il suo marchio Diamond. Erano prodotte inizialmente dalla ditta castellana Moreschi, poi da Alberto Morbidoni. Si aggiungerà per poco tempo, verso il 1964, la serie delle chitarre Diamond Ranger, fatte anch'esse in Italia.
